In the aftermath of the Asia Minor Catastrophe, the family arrived in Nea Moudania in 1924 and was granted land in the area. This marked the beginning of a journey deeply connected to the region and its people.
The story of hospitality began with the Kouvraki Hotel in 1967, setting the foundation for what would later become Sokratis Hotel. In 1982, construction of the current hotel started, and by 1985, it officially opened, beginning its uninterrupted operation.
For nearly two decades, the hotel stood as one of the few establishments open year-round, offering not only accommodation but also homemade meals prepared by its own people. It became known for its warmth, consistency, and genuine care—qualities that built lasting relationships with guests.
Through major renovations in 2003 and 2025, along with several smaller upgrades, the hotel has continuously evolved while preserving its character. Now operated by the second generation, it remains exceptionally well maintained, supported by a loyal team, many of whom have been part of the hotel for 10 to 40 years. Today, Sokratis Hotel stands as a seamless blend of heritage, continuity, and modern hospitality.
